Corporal Timothy Ombinya from Mvita AP command base was nabbed along side two other accomplices, Rosemary Ngina and Hamisi Juma, in a garage near Harambee Club in Likoni.

Confirming the incident, Coast Regional Police commander Francis Wanjohi said they tracked the trio after the AP officer used his phone to demand for a Sh70,000 ransom.

The officer is said to have been found in possession of cocaine.

The victim, Rashid Abdhallah, was kidnapped from his Ijara home in Majengo Mapya, Mombasa County.

"The suspects are being questioned. It is a very dangerous syndicate and we are on high alert. Police are pursuing other suspects who flew the scene,” said Wanjohi.

This comes after four AP officers were arrested over the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Joseph Mwendwa and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.
