A businessman was on Tuesday morning robbed Sh1 million along Moi Avenue in Mombasa.The businessman, Baron Kilago, was shot and left with serious injuries during the 10 am robbery incident that occurred outside Commercial Bank of Africa along Moi avenue road, Baraka FM reports.Confirming the incident, Urban DCI Jacob Kanake said the thugs left behind a black bag containing 19 rounds of ammunition at the scene of crime, before escaping on a motorbike.Kilago, a Kenya Ferry Services captain, had just alighted from a tuktuk and was going to deposit the said cash before he was robbed by the two men.The police said the criminals approached Kilago before shooting him in the leg and hand using an AK47 riffle. Kilango, who is a regular customer at the bank was taken to Aga Khan Hospital where he is recuperating.“He is at theater now, but he is in stable condition. We have mobilized officers from all sections and we are following crucial leads,” said the DCI boss, as quoted by the daily. The police revealed that Kilango owns several M-pesa shops in town and had gone to the bank to deposit the money.The police boss also said they are pursuing the owner of the tuktuk for questioning over the incident.
