Mombasa has been listed among counties that spent their development funds appropriately as per the Annual Implementation Report.
According to Controller of Budget Agnes Odhiambo, officials of Mombasa County deserves credit for proper use of funds allocated to the region.
Mombasa joins various counties including Bomet and Wajir at the top of counties that used the resources at their disposal as expected of them.
The Controller of Budget pointed that the government spent Sh367.44 billion in all the 47 counties.
The recurrent expenditure was allocated Sh295.30 billion whereas Sh158. 62 billion was spared for development activities in different parts of the nation.
She also noted that the counties left Sh72 billion after spending Sh.295.30 billion.
She said an increase in the wage bill was likely going to lead to the reduction of the amount to be spend on development activities in the long run.
This is good news for the people of Mombasa as the county looks forward to attaining its goals.
The new report boosts the people’s confidence in Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his team as he seeks to defend his seat in the upcoming general election.
Joho is set to lock horns with his Senator Hassan Omar and Nyali MP Hezron Awiti among other candidates.
