The stench of garbage has been chocking Mombasa County for a long time to the discomfort of residents.Deputy Governor William Kingi blamed the situation on the police for impounding garbage collection trucks and Treasury from delay in the release of funds to the county.Yesterday, Kingi boldly claimed that some private garbage collectors were colluding with the police to frustrate the county efforts at garbage collection.According to the county administration, the delay of funds is making it difficult for it to buy cleaning equipment.Peter Omanwa, Changamwe OCPD, denied that the police had impounded any county garbage collection trucks.''We have not impounded any garbage collection trucks. It is unfortunate that the county administration intends to drag the police into its garbage crisis.'' He said sternly.
