The County government of Mombasa has ploughed over 1,180 acres of land and will soon distribute high yield pest resistant seeds to farmers all across the County.

Governor Ali Hassan Joho said the program is geared towards promoting food security by adopting drought mitigation measures.

He said it would also enhance the farmer’s economic endowment by helping them move away from their traditional farming practices to modern methods that would in-turn yield high quality crops and better their income.

''We are greatly committed towards improving the lives of our farmers and those of the residents of this County,'' he said, Saturday.

Areas mainly targeted by this program are Jomvu, Likoni and Kisauni Sub-counties.
