[Photo|Dr William Kingi]Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi, has expressed disappointment, following the arrest of Portreitz ward MCA, Bomoa.According to him, the county assembly lawmaker was arrested for calling President Uhuru Kenyatta, a caretaker president.Below is Kingi's full statement upon visiting the MCA at Port police station, Friday."Out of exasperation and fatalism, the clueless handlers of this Jubilee government have resorted to arbitrary arrests of NASA leaders and concocting stories to justify their illegal actions all in a bid to stem the tide of feasible and imminent election boycott.Hon. Bomoa an elected leader representing the people of Portreitz ward was arrested today at dawn for allegedly calling Uhuru Kenyatta a caretaker president during a presser by the members of the county assembly of Mombasa yesterday. Hon. Bomoa's only crime as it stands was to say the truth and urge our citizens to boycott the October elections. As leaders who share in this resolve we visited Port Police station where the MCA was allegedly taken to upon his arrest. The police were very reluctant to give us a clear reason for his arrest, the only response we got was that it was an order from above and it is the same orders that would allow his release on cash bail or otherwise. This illegal arrests of elected leaders, executed by the police, sponsored by those fiercely opposed to the restructuring of this nation and endorsed by those who disrespect the freedoms of our people, will permanently alter Kenya's political firmament. This intimidation must stop immediately.Hon. Bomoa must be given all his constitutional rights and is presumed innocent in the eye of the law and therefore should be released forthwith."
