Orange Democratic Movement deputy leader, Ali Hassan Joho, on Tuesday, called for the compensation of 2017 post-election violence victims.
The Mombasa governor sees the agreement signed between Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta as a good move to look into the issue of compensating post-election violence victims.
As a matter of reconciliation, Joho on Tuesday called upon the government to move with swift and compensate the 2017 post-election violence victims.
"I am committed to seeing families that lost their kin compensated. This issue is close to my heart," Mr. Joho said.
Many people lost their lives and properties were lost too during demonstrations after the disputed 2017 August elections.
Reports suggest that approximately 92 people lost their lives while up to 86 people got sexually assaulted.
