The leaders said the duration will give them enough time to prepare for next year general elections.

The leaders also asked President Kenyatta who is the interim party leader, and his deputy William Ruto to put structures in place that will ensure fair and free party nominations.

Speaking on Tuesday, Mombasa Jubilee chairman Ali Mwatsau said they were firmly behind the president’s decision, adding that the merger of different outfits to one will help in unifying the country which is divided into tribal cocoons.

“We want to say that we are firmly behind the president in this journey of restoring unity in Kenya, and if merging our political parties will help us achieve this noble agenda, then we are together in it,” said Mwatsau.

This comes after President Kenyatta announced preparations to launch the party were underway, having received all supporting documents to ensure they don’t breach any law in the formation.

The Mombasa delegation said it was now time to popularise the outfit, saying it was the best choice for the Coastal people.
