Coastal leaders have welcomed the move by the Cord coalition to appoint Mombasa Women Representative Mishi Mboko to the panel chosen to spearhead the negotiation talks aimed at resolving the IEBC stalemate in the country.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho said the move was a show of respect to the coastal people for being staunch supporters of the opposition coalition.
Speaking in his Kizingo offices on Friday, Joho said the people of Mombasa should not take the opportunity for granted since other parties do not have the interest of the Coast people at heart.
“It gives us much pleasure when one of us is selected to represent the parties stand in such matters of national importance. That means the people of Mombasa are important to ODM,” said the county boss.
On his part Mombasa County assembly speaker Thadius Rajwayi congratulated the women rep for being a crusader of justice and serving the people.
He said her passion to serve the electorate is what had won her many accolades in Kenya, adding that many people were pleased with her style of leadership.
Mboko has been selected alongside Siaya Senator James Orengo, his Machakos counterpart Johnstone Muthama, MPs Junet Mohammed and Eseli Simiyu.
