Leaders in Mombasa have mourned nominated MCA Sarah Nyamvula who passed away on Monday while undergoing treatment for lymphoid cancer in India.
Led by Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, the leaders termed Nyamvula as a leader with character who championed for the rights of women and children.
"I have not only lost a personal friend but Mombasa has also lost a dedicated and visionary leader with impeccable character whose voice of reason and wisdom always echoed in the County Assembly buildings," said Joho in a Facebook post.
On his part, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti said, "Apart from being my close friend, the late Hon Sarah Nyamvula will be remembered for her consistent fight against child abuse and violation of women's rights. She always stood firm by what she said and believed in."
