A section of leaders in Mombasa County have declared support for President Uhuru Kenyatta. The leaders, who lost in the August 8 polls, said they will drum up support for Uhuru in the grassroots to ensure he wins the repeat presidential election slated for October 26.Led by Daniel Kitsao who vied for the governor seat on a Kadu Asili ticket, the leaders dismissed the National Super Alliance (NASA), accusing it of using propaganda to mislead residents.“We have resolved to carry out door to door campaigns in support of the re-election of President Uhuru come October 26,” said Kitsao.Jamalat Abdulhakim of Maendeleo Chap Chap urged Coast residents who supported NASA in the August 8 polls to abandon the opposition in favour of Jubilee party. She said the Jubilee government is ready to work to ensure unity and development across the country.Abdulhakim said they will intensify grassroots campaigns to deliver Coast votes for the Jubilee coalition. She faulted the position for constantly hurling insults at President Kenyatta saying the move will not earn the opposition sympathy votes.“As women leaders we are angered by the derogatory statements against the President and his mother by a section of the opposition legislators,” she said.On his party, Stephen Mure of Maendeleo Chap Chap urged Mombasa voters to support the President to give him a chance to complete the development projects he has already initiated.“The Jubilee government started several projects geared at positively impacting the lives of Kenyans and we should vote the President back to enable him finish the projects,” he said.He said the opposition top brass has been in government for long in the past but have done little to improve the welfare of the Coastal people while in senior positions of influence.
