The Mombasa Marine Park through the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), on Wednesday received equipment worth 56.7 million shillings from the Kenya Coastal Development Project (KCDP).
In a series of tweets posted on their official twitter account, KWS confirmed that the equipment will be used in the five marine national parks in the area.
“New dawn for Kenya's five marine parks as we receive equipment worth Sh56.7 million from the Kenya Coastal Development Project (KCDP),” read on the tweets.
This comes in the backdrop of Kenya’s tourism industry bagging more than 10 awards at the 2016 World Travel Awards held in Zanzibar.
Diani Beach retained its position three years in a row by scooping the Africa's Leading Beach Destination 2016 award.
The Africa’s leading Destination and Africa’s Cruise Port 2016 award went to Mombasa.
