A section of MCAs in Mombasa County now want to be awarded with a Sh5 million loan to enable them buy cars and homes befitting their stature.Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, the MCAs said they were tired of hosting residents in their houses or under trees and asked the government to expedite their request to enable them get nice offices where they can attend to electorates’ issues.“We want the monies to be enhanced so that we can use Sh2 million for a nice car and Sh3 million for mortgage. Those are the privileges we have as MCAs. We are not hunting for votes to go knock on electorates’ doors. They need to come and see us in our offices,” said Tudor MCA Tobias Otieno Samba. His sentiments were echoed by his Tibwani Ward counterpart Mwaka Baraka who said there was need for them to be facilitated effectively to enable them deliver.“That is disrespecting my position. I cannot sit under a tree because I am now an honourable member," said Baraka, as quoted by Business Daily. However, Nominated MCA Fatma Kushe opposed the calls and slammed her colleagues for having the wrong priorities."You were not elected to demand posh cars and offices,” said Kushe.
