Newly elected Mombasa Speaker Harub Khatri has cautioned MCAs against engaging in fist fights in the chamber, saying such behaviour will tarnish the image of the assembly.Khatri noted that the first county assembly reported cases of members exchanging blows, adding that the current MCAs should desist from such actions and instead dedicate themselves to improving the living standards of residents.Speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, Khatri said health, sanitation, water services, youth and women empowerment and job creation are among the top issues that need to be addressed by the assembly.“I am a development oriented individual and I feel bad when honourable members exchange blows. Such side shows are unnecessary as they give us a bad image,” he said.He said it is high time the 42 MCAs in Mombasa realised the mandate of the county assembly.“Let us not copy what transpired during the first county assembly. We need to completely change the picture and become real servant leaders,” he added. The speaker said he is open to implementing any ideas that will help in improving the status of the coastal city.
