The Kenya National Muslim Advisory Council (KEMNAC) has pleaded with NASA leader, Raila Odinga to drop his oath plans to save the country from political violence.
The council said Raila risks to destroy his political legacy and the respect he commands both locally and internationally if he goes on with his illegal oathing.
During a press conference on Wednesday in Mombasa, KEMNAC National Chairman, Sheikh Juma Ngao said the planned oathing “will tarnish Raila’s image and plunge the country into chaos.”
Sheikh Ngao said the swearing of Raila was illegitimate and inconsequential as he will not be recogniSed by any country and the international community at large.
“Kenya has one President and that is Uhuru Kenyatta who was publicly sworn-in on November 28 last year by the Chief Justice of the country,” said KEMNAC official.
Sheikh Ngao further said Kenyans respect Raila for his immense contribution to the country’s political reforms and that he should not destroy this legacy.
