State House spokesman, Manoah Esipisu, has confirmed that the 400 Kv Mombasa-Nairobi electricity transmission line project is set to begin in a week’s time.
This comes after the issue of land compensation was resolved on Tuesday.
The agreement was reached in a meeting presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (Ketraco) and the Kajiado Maa community leaders at State House, Nairobi.
It was resolved that people whose land the Ketraco powerlines will pass through will be compensated under the Government’s 30 per cent compensation policy.
The electricity transmission line will pass through Kajiado County.
