The Jubilee Party caravan in Mombasa toured Shanzu, Kisauni Constituency on Monday with a promise to bring change in the administration of the county.
Led by governor hopeful Suleiman Shahbal, the leaders accused the current leadership of failing to address the key issues that affect the lives of residents.Shahbal asked residents to elect the right leaders during the August elections in order to enjoy the fruits of devolution. He also took the opportunity to outline his plans for Mombasa if he wrestles control of the county from the incumbent, Governor Hassan Joho."Make the right choice during the August 8 elections. Mombasa needs a governor who will spend public resources well, in a way that benefits the people. We don't need a Sultan who runs Mombasa like a private family business," said Shahbal. While accusing Governor Joho of failing in his development role, Shahbal claimed that only two per cent of Mombasa County's annual budget goes to development with 98 per cent remaining unaccounted for.Shahbal has used all the available opportunities in the past few days to criticize Joho’s leadership.
