Kwale woman representative Zulekha Juma has rubbished the Deputy President William Ruto's endorsement by Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa for presidency in 2022.
Speaking in Diani on Monday, Zulekha termed Aisha's endorsement as a personal opinion made out of excitement.
Zulekha said 2022 is far for some leaders to announce their political stand.
She reiterated that elected leaders should focus on serving their people instead of engaging in 2022 succession politics.
“2022 is way far away, it's despicable that elected leaders are busy pondering over who will reign in 2022 when the people who elected them are waiting for them to fulfill their promises," Zulekha said.
Nonetheless, the Orange Democratic Movement party has distanced itself from Aisha's comments.
Speaking at a different function, the party's secretary general Edwin Sifuna said the party is busy discussing electoral reforms and not 2022 politics.
This is after five ODM MPs from the coast threw weight behind Deputy President William Ruto's presidential bid.
