The Mombasa County Youth, Gender, Sports and Cultural Affairs CeC Munywoki Kyalo on Wednesday saw off 12 Mombasa-based Chess Players who will represent the Coast region in the National Youth Chess Championship in Vihiga county starting March 16-18, 2018.

The event has attracted over 600 participants from across Kenya. 

Top 3 players in each age category of Under 8, under 12, under 14, under 16 and under 18 will represent Kenya in various international Chess tournaments.

The Department wished the team success in the tournament.

The CeC also hosted a breakfast meeting for entertainment and creative industry stakeholders on Thursday.

 The main purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on how to work together and collectively exploit opportunities in the respective sector of the economy. 

"Following the governor's agenda, to empower the youth and tackle unemployment, the department has embarked on an elaborate programme to ensure that we explore and tap into talent for job creation," said the CeC.

Kyalo emphasized on the commitment of the County government to allocate resources for talent development programmes including infrastructure development such as a fully equipped ultra modern talent centre.
