Students from private schools in Mombasa County dominated the list of best performers in the just-released Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Education (KCSE) examination results.Mombasa’s Memon High School topped the chart with the top student Mohamed Mahmoud Issa garnering A- of 89 points ahead of Abdulbaasit Fahad Abdalla, who got A- of 79 points.Memon High School produced 11 A- grades, Light Academy six A- while Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Secondary School had 8 A- grades, signifying an improvement from the 2016 KCSE exam results.Nurdin Kulo of Light Academy Nyali also scored A- of 79 points ahead of Kassam Moosa who got an A- of 76. Issa who said his dream is to study medicine at the University of Nairobi said hard work, a good teacher-student relationship is what made him achieve the good grades. “I am delighted that I will finally pursue my dream career. Discipline, hard work, and support from my teachers were all that I needed to excel,” said Issa of Memon High School in Mvita. Other students who performed well at Memon High School were Maarya Elyas Bachani with A-, Tanzila Omar Jin and Khulud Mahmoud Nurani who both scored A-.Aida Faraj topped the list of candidates who scored A- at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Secondary School.Others are Munira Ahmed A-, Sauda Habib A-, Harifa Abdulatifa A-, Mohamed Abduwahab A-, Ibrahim Boso A-, Mohamed Ahmed A- and Noor Sharif A-.Addressing journalists after the results were announced on Wednesday, the school’s principal Suleiman Bwika attributed the good performance to discipline, hard work and dedication from teachers.In Taita Taveta County, Odhiambo Collins topped in Dr Aggrey Boys High School after scoring A- of 76 points followed by Hussein Abdurahman Akhule with an A- of 75 points becoming one of the best public schools which performed well.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
