Mombasa County has received a new commissioner.
Evans Achoki has been replaced by former Bungoma County Commissioner Mohamed Maalim.
Maalim has served Bungoma County for a period of three years.
He was posted to his previous station in Bungoma in the wake of a round of attacks that left more than 60 residents of Kikwechi village Kabuchai Sub-County maimed, and scores injured in April 2013.
He played a major role in wiping out the Sabaot Land Defence Forces (SLDF) militia gang in Mt Elgon and parts of Bungoma area.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Maalim said that he was thankful for the duration he had been in Bungoma County, as he had worked well with the county government.
The county commissioner warned the Wakali Kwanza and Wakali Wao criminal gangs in Kisauni, saying he will wipe them out.
"I will wipe them out as I did with the Sabaot Land Defence Forces militia gang,” said the commissioner.
Maalim has been replaced by Joshua Chepchieng, from Migori County.
