Mombasa residents have been lauded for leading in the fight against terror and crime in the county by providing relevant information to authorities.

Speaking during a press briefing in Mombasa, County Commissioner Nelson Marwa praised residents of Majengo for volunteering critical information that has helped in a terror raid operation.

“We really want to thank those citizens that gave this report of the terror suspects that helped us get all these; if we get 10 more people like this the county will be safe,” said Marwa.

Police on Monday recovered two firearms and ammunition during a security operation in Majengo area, after having been tipped by the local residents in the area.

Marwa further warned against residents who illegally own guns in the county, saying very soon the arm of the government will catch up with them.

“You should not wait for the government to come take it from you; just bring them otherwise it is going to be so costly," added Marwa.

The police have issued photos of the suspects that are still on the loose, and  citizens have been urged to report them immediately if seen; as these men are considered as terrorists.
