Mombasa residents have been encouraged to pursue adult education in order to achieve their dreams.Residents who completed their primary education more than ten years ago and failed to join secondary school due to various reasons have been urged to join the adult classes and further their studies.Speaking at Changamwe in Mombasa on Thursday, Gladys Mwinga the officer in charge of adult education within Changamwe sub-county said youth who sat their KCPE examination years ago should join the adult education programme as it will enable them to pursue their secondary education and higher education in universities as well.“Some of these youth are above thirty years old and they still want to go back to school. Why deny them the chance to achieve their dreams?” asked Mwinga. She said that the adult education programme in Changamwe was embraced more by women compared to men.“We admit this takes a lot of courage but it will ease the pain for some of our old youth since most of them were unable to join secondary school. This is a second chance as we will receive and teach them,” she added.Mwinga said she has been meeting parents and youth in the area encouraging them to enroll in the adult education programme so that they can achieve their dreams.Over 80 students most of whom are women are already enrolled in the adult education programme in Changamwe.
