Leaders from Mombasa County attended the second day of the 1st 21st Maritime Cooperation Committee where different members showcased and promoted their Counties and Cities as Tourist destinations on Friday.
Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi congratulated Mama Salma Noor, the Director of Sister Cities for showcasing Mombasa to the World so well during the Tourism and Cooperation Presentations in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, China.
On Thursday, Kingi received the appointment certificate on behalf of Governor Hassan Ali Joho as a co-president of the committee that seeks to re-establish trade and investments routes of cities and local governments of Asia-Pacific, Southeast, South Asia and Africa through the Maritime Silk Road.
"Tourism being one of the investment areas that the Maritime Silk Road will rediscover, as active members we will continue strategizing to market Mombasa to be a destination of choice for all the 51 other members of the committee and beyond," Kingi said during the presentation.
The leaders who have been in China for close to a week now, also attended a members expo and had a chance to see what others were exhibiting.
"Indeed the decision to come together under the one Belt one Road initiative, will enrich our diversity on external trade," he said.
