Mutua informed Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki that several residents, religious leaders and parents from the county have raised concerns over the increased number of young children being admitted in the clubs.

Speaking at the School of Government in Mombasa during a workshop with Muslim clerics on Wednesday, Mutua said a number of strip clubs are taking advantage of the poor state of families in the county to destroy the lives of young girls.

He said he will not sit back and watch as club owners continue taking advantage of young girls.

“We have not yet verified the reports but we would like to bring the matter to the attention of the county commissioner,” he said.

He said the county has the necessary resources to fight this vice.

“We do not have prosecutorial powers but our investigations are at an advanced stage and once we find what we want, we will give all the information to you,” he told Achoki.

Reports also indicate that foreigners have been using the underage girls to film pornographic movies without the knowledge of parents.
