The three; Naima Mohammed Ahmed, Shukri Ali Haji and Saida Ali Haji, all of Somali origin, are accused of harbouring Tasmin Yakub Abdullahi Farah in their house in Kibokoni, Mombasa.

According to the Star, Mombasa Resident magistrate Emmanuel Mutunga issued the directions after it emerged that one of the accused who is deaf, could not understand sign language.

The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said a Somali translator and a sign language interpreter would be provided.

The case, according to the magistrate, will now proceed at the Shanzu law courts for security concerns.

State counsel Alexandar Muteti said the accused would undergo medical tests at the Coast Provincial General Hospital before they are presented in court again.

During the foiled attack, three other women including Tasmin, were shot dead while two police officers were injured and a section of the police station burnt.

Five women who wore hijabs are said to have presented themselves at the police station to record a statement over a stolen phone but turned against the officers.

They also attempted to petrol bomb the station burning it partially.

Police were forced to respond swiftly firing at the women and killing three of them on the spot before arresting two others.
