Mombasa County is set to host a three-day post-election seminar for MPs.
The seminar will be held in conjunction with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association under the theme: Sharing our experiences to enhance good governance and continually safeguard the welfare of the nation.Parliament will, therefore, go for a one-week recess to allow the event to take place.National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi while inviting members to the event stated: “I wish to encourage all members to make time and attend this seminar as it will be crucial for them to appraise themselves with the trends within the Commonwealth jurisdiction.”The seminar will a big boost to the county’s economy as hotel owners and stakeholders in the transport sector are expected to register high-profit margins during the three-day event. Four hotels have been selected to offer accommodation to the legislators, among them the Pride Inn Paradise Hotel where the seminar will be held.The seminar will start on Sunday, March 4, 2018 and will run up to Thursday, March 8, 2018. The Guest Speakers will be the Rt Hon Justice (Dr) Patrick Matibini, SC, MP, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia.The event will also be graced by Mr Karimulla Akbar Khan, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.Speaking after Muturi invited MPs to the event, National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi confirmed that NASA MPs will attend the seminar.He urged the lawmakers to take the event seriously as it is catered for by tax payers money.
