The 79th Congress, which will attract players in both hospitality and travels sectors, is scheduled to run from October 17 to 21, 2018. Confirming the event, Skål Kenya Chairman Silvester Mbandi said that nation has been given the opportunity to host the event in a bid to promote tourism. The 78th edition of the congress was held in in Hyderbad, India in October 2017. Mbadi, who is also the Baobab Beach Resort and Spa general manager was speaking during a ceremony in which he presented organisation’s flag to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.“Today we are honoured to announce that we won the bid to be the host this time. We lost the 2015 bid, unfortunately, due to issues of insecurity. It was canceled and taken to Torremolinos, Spain,” he said, as quoted by Daily Nation. Mbadi also said that the event will provide the nation with an opportunity to market different tourist attractions to the international community. The county boss welcomed the Congress and pledged to support the delegates. Joho also said that the Congress will not only benefit Mombasa county but also other regions. “The benefits, by and large, will go beyond the county of Mombasa. It is our commitment to ensuring that this event succeeds.
