Mombasa County Executive Committee member in charge of Tourism, Fauz Rashid said that 2018 looks promising in terms of tourism after 2017 go slow due to prolonged electioneering period.
Speaking on Thursday at the Port of Mombasa when he was among the dignitaries that received close to 1000 tourists on a cruise ship, Rashid said that having received two cruise ships already in this season, tourism is deemed to boom in the whole of 2018 as tourists now have confidence in the country.
“This is a very good for us here in Mombasa like I said this is the second trip they are making here. This shows that the confidence they have in Kenya is building up again,” Rashid said.
He said that with this building confidence, they need to diversify the products and services and tourists’ reception in order to see tourism succeed in this year.
“We are excited to have this large number of tourists this early in the year, this goes to show the confidence tourists still have in Mombasa. What we need to do is diversify our products as Mombasa is already a brand,” he added.
The cruise ship MS NAUTICA docked today at the port of Mombasa with 576 passengers and 386 crew members.
