Mombasa Women Representative Aisha Hussein is the latest Coast politician to back Governor Hassan Joho’s 2022 presidential bid.
Hussein argues that Joho could be the Coast savior and that the region should back his 2022 bid to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking to journalists in Mombasa Town on Thursday, the ODM women rep said that governor Joho has the qualities of a president.
The MP said that Joho’s firmness and aggressiveness are what he needs to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Aisha asked coast leaders to put their party affiliations and political differences aside and support Joho's bid.
“We as Coast politicians must sit down and agree to back Joho’s 2022 presidential bid in 2022,” she said as quoted by a local daily on Thursday.
The ODM woman rep said that the only way Coast region will get out of poverty is when they have one of their own as president.
“We have been suffered for so long and time has come for us to speak and show the direction to the rest of the country,” she added.
The MP asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to endorse Joho as his 2022 successor.
Governor Joho is among top politicians who have declared an interest in the presidency in 2022.
On Tuesday, Joho said that he is firmly in the 2022 race, adding that his bid is unstoppable and unshakable.
The Mombasa governor is banking on ODM Party leader Raila Odinga’s endorsement for the top seat.
