Women eyeing different elective posts in Mombasa have undergone training on effective campaign skills.
The campaign, organized by Media Focus on Africa in conjunction with FIDA Kenya, is aimed at helping the women aspirants become more marketable as they look forward to winning various seats.
Speaking during the training session, the organizations project officer Frenny Jowi, said they opted to organize the campaign after realizing the two thirds gender rule had not yet been implemented despite being part of the Constitution.
“The aim of this project is promoting women in leadership and ensuring that Kenyan women are able to present themselves as leaders who can be elected by people. The training also focuses on confidence and legal matters so that women can present themselves as leaders,” said Frenny, as quoted by Baraka FM.
The organization also plans to undertake training in different parts of the nation in order to empower women seeking leadership positions.
Other areas where the campaign will be launched include Kajiado, Nandi, West Pokot, Transzoia, Nyandarua and Narok counties.
“We did a research and realized that these counties have very few nominated women, so we are encouraging women to come out and get elected,” she added.
