Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has been given a 48-hour ultimatum to apologise for claiming drug users were paid to applaud Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho when he publicly disagreed with President Uhuru Kenyatta over the county’s projects.

Mombasa youth caucus, a youth group in the county, asked Marwa to apologise for his remarks before they take unspecified action against him.

They faulted Marwa for engaging in political issues instead of focusing on the region’s security.

Speaking to journalists, the group’s coordinator Mr Fadhil Mzee asked Marwa to take them to rehab if he is certain that they are addicted to drugs.

“If we are drug addicts as he said, let him take us to a rehabilitation center. We want him to apologise to youth in Mombasa otherwise he will not like what will happen if he fails to do so,” said Mzee, as quoted by Baraka FM.

Mzee also denied claims of being paid to cheer the governor when he dressed down President Uhuru Kenyatta during his tour in the county.

“We went there on our own. We were not paid by anyone and we were very sober,” he added.
