Stakeholders in the Tourism sector have raised concerns over the constant traffic congestion experienced at the Changamwe roundabout on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The tourism players have called on both the county and national governments to come up with a quick solution to the the menace which they say is affecting their business.
Kenya Tourists Association Mombasa branch chair Monica Solanki, said travelling to and from Mombasa has now become a nightmare.
She cited the Friday incident where passengers were stuck in traffic for three hours.
The situation is said to be caused by heavy trucks parked along the highway, as well as those heading to the Mombasa Port for cargo loading.
Solanki said local and international tourists using the road usually miss their flights, as the heavy traffic prevents them from accessing the Moi International Airport.
"We request the county and national governments to offer a lasting solution to this menace,” said Solanki.
Mombasa County Transport CeC Taufiq Balala, said the county government is working towards addressing the problem.
