Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong'are has criticised the national government for conducting Mashujaa Day celebrations every year without really identifying and recognising the heroes behind the celebrations.
On Thursday, Mong'are said it is meaningless for the government to take celebrations to Machakos County and fail to even put a smile on the faces of families of the heroes/heroines behind the big day.
"I avoided the Machakos celebrations to come here and celebrate my hero Anyona who fought for multiparty democracy that Uhuru and the rest are enjoying today not even doing anything to give us memories of him," noted Mong'are.
Mong'are asked Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to also name Dunga Street after the late Anyona as it where the hero perished in a road crash.
"We have over 300,000 Gusii voters in Nairobi and Kidero should respect this and change the street name to George Anyona and if he can't, then our support to him is minimal," said Mong'are
The Senator spoke at the home of former Kitutu Masaba MP George Anyona Moseti, Nyamwanga village in Kitutu Masaba constituency on Thursday where he also opened a library.
