Presidential aspirant Mong’are Okong’o has backed the newly nominated Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials.
On Thursday, President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated Mombasa lawyer Wafula Chebukati as the replacement of Isaac Hassan together with other six commissioners who are now waiting vetting by parliament.
Mong’are who recently joined presidential race said the new team should be given opportunity to oraginise elections to avoid controversy.
“Those who were appointed are men and women of repute and they deserve to serve this nation. I fully back their nominations by the president,” he told KTN news.
“I also want to support the Chief Executive (Ezra Chiloba for the good work he is doing. He is a young man who is determined to make things work,” added Mong’are.
The Nyamira senator is also filing an impeachment motion against President Uhuru Kenyatta, who he has accused of gross violation of the Kenyan constitution.
