Immediate former Nyamira Senator Mong’are Okong’o has called upon Nyamira county governor John Nyagarama to support his bid for Nyamira county speaker.
According to Okon’go, he is the most qualified personnel who won’t be compromised by any party as he has the needed experience.
“I don’t want the county assembly members to be compromised when electing the speaker to the county assembly but consider a person who is qualified such like me,” he added.
The former senator said he is ready to work with the county government of Nyamira and he will ensure that they bring up bills that will change the face of Nyamira.
“The speaker’s position is key to the county’s progress and you should do thorough vetting to ensure that the person who takes over understands the roles of articulating issues related to governance and development and the person is me,” he said.
Okong’o was speaking during a press briefing involving area leaders in Nyamira town on Monday noon.
Those who have already shown interest to vie for the county assembly speaker include the former Nyansiongo ward MCA Jackson Mogusu, City Lawyers Stephen Mogaka and James Mamboleo, both of whom unsuccessfully vied for West Mugirango parliamentary seat losing to Mombasa based lawyer Vincent Kemosi Mogaka.
The out-going speaker Joash Nyamoko vied for the North Mugirango MP seat where he beat the incumbent Charles Geni to emerge the winner with over 12, 000 votes.
