Former Multiparty democracy fighter and a fierce critic of both Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel arap Moi’s regimes George Anyona Moseti was on Thursday honoured with a library in his homestead by Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mong’are.
Anyona served as Kitutu Masaba MP for15 years and lost his seat twice precipitating by-elections following his imprisonment without trial in 1977 and 1988 respectively.
And the Nyamira Senator hailed the contributions of the renowned politician and two-time presidential candidate for his unrelenting effort to see the country liberated.
“I am quite honoured to remember my brother Anyona following his unrelenting effort to see this country liberated. The liberty will be accessed by future and current generations to learn our reach history,” he said.
Anyona’s brother, Jones Moseti, hailed the incident as a dream come true and challenged young people to emulate his deceased brother.
“I wish he was alive. This is a huge boost towards his stature as a democracy fighter and I hope young people will emulate his legacy,” he said.
Anyona died in a road accident moments after losing 2002 polls to Mwancha Okioma when Narc took over from the Kanu regime.
