A few hours after Nyamira Senator Mong’are Okong’o launched his presidential bid, a Member of County Assembly from the region has dismissed him as a ‘jubilee project’.
On Tuesday, Mong’are launched his presidential bid insisting that he was the best alternative to both Jubilee and the opposition team.
However, Manga MCA Peter Maroro said the move was aimed at scuttling Orange Democratic Movement’s chances in the South Nyanzan County.
“There is nothing wrong with someone going for presidency. However, when you go for such position with only seven months to elections, there is something hidden which someone needs to tell us,” he said.
“He is a Jubilee project and I am sure that he has been positioned to scuttle ODM votes from this region. He miscalculated because his plans may not work at all,” said the Assembly Majority Whip.
The Ford Kenya senator will be contesting presidency in a Federal Party of Kenya ticket, a party associated with former minister Cyrus Jirongo.
