A furious Nyamira Senator Okong’o Mong’are has revealed summoning of County top officials led by Governor John Nyagarama following anomalies in a number of 2014/15 budgetary allocations.
Mong’are, who spoke to the writer in Wednesday, said Senate’s PAC committee has summoned Nyagarama and other top officials from County Assembly to be grilled on misappropriation of funds.
According to him, Sh100 million allocated to non-existing State University of Nyamira and another Sh50 million for incomplete Manga stadium.
“I am tired with this regime that is out to defraud poor taxpayers every time. As a member of PAC, I successfully petitioned the Governor and other top officials from assembly and there are due to appear soon to explain the anomalies,” Mong’are said.
“My job is basically to ensure proper spending in my county and that is what I am doing. We want to see transparency because at least Sh100 million and another Sh50 million for non-existing university and incomplete Manga stadium cannot be accounted for,” he said.
Mong’are also said Sh60 million meant for executive spending and another Sh59 million for County Assembly spending could also not be accounted for in 2014/15 financial year.
“Taxpayers money must be accounted for and that is why i also need explanation of spending of Sh60 million for executive and another Sh59 million for county assembly accounted for. We must fight corruption and as Senator, I must be counted as one who fought for accountability and transparency,” he added.
