President Uhuru Kenyatta’s pre-election woes are likely to persist after a presidential candidate vowed to file an impeachment motion when parliament resumes next year.
Nyamira Senator Mong’are Okong’o, who threw his hut into the ring few days ago, accused President Kenyatta of breaching the constitution of the country by dictating parliament among other things.
In his statement, Mong’are also questioned the president’s inability to account for the number of soldiers who were killed by Alshabaab militia in Somalia early this year.
“The president attempted to contravene the constitution of the country by cordoning off of parliament during the special sitting both at the National Assembly and Senate,” he said.
“The president also dictates parliament on how to vote contrary to the constitution. He has also neglected to account for the number of soldiers who died at El Adde or even tabling the report on the attack of Garissa University,” he added.
He said that he will table the impeachment motion when parliament resumes insisting that he was keen to spearhead the third liberation.
