Cyber owners have been told to monitor activities of the children while at the cyber.
Children’s right officer Samuel Nyongesa has called upon the operators to ensure cyber users especially school children do not access harmful immoral material on the internet.
He says now that schools have closed children like visiting the cyber to get access to social sites such as facebook which turns out to be the site where children learn immoral activities.
“Children are now using the cyber to visit pornographic sites from where they pick immoral behaviors which have a harmful effect on them,” he said.
“We keep complaining of immorality among our children. Where do they learn these behaviors? The cyber and the internet,” he said.
He added that parents have neglected their roles in ensuring good morals among the children and the youth.
“You find a parent buying a class 5 pupil a smartphone. With all the curiosity and accessible internet and pornographic sites, they end up visiting these sites, picking the behaviors and at some point try them out,” said Nyongesa.
“Cyber owners should thus take responsibility of their cyber café to ensure they uphold morality. They should restrict these sites by blocking them and imposing penalties for individuals defy the order,” he added.
