A bodaboda rider in Maseno was injured on Monday after a monkey attacked him as he rode his motorcycle.
The attack landed him into a ditch as he tried to avoid the provoked primate.
The wild animal is said to have been provoked by a group of pupils throwing stones at the Colobus monkey.
The man who could not be readily identified sustained scratches on the neck and arms as the animal pounced on him.
Pedestrians along the Kisumu-Busia road where the incident happened scampered for safety before returning to save the man lying on the ground.
Noise from the pedestrians overwhelmed the monkey who took off with its young one tacked at the back.
“The incident was funny and frightening. The rider was riding his bike when the ape jumped and landed straight on the motorbike. He tried to take control of the bike but unfortunately landed on the ditch,” said Ezekiel Kemboi a student.
He was later taken for treatment at the Maseno Mission hospital.
