[Photo| @UKenyatta]There was calmness in the Nyanza part of Kenya during the swearing-in ceremony of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto on Tuesday.Major towns in the Nyanza counties remained deserted for the better part of Tuesday with business lacking customers.Heavy police presence was witnessed in Kisumu, Migori, Siaya and Homa Bay counties due to fear that violence could break out.Kisumu governor Anyang' Nyong'o had earlier warned the residents of Kisumu against demonstrating in the county without a nod from Nasa or ODM party saying criminals take advantage during the protests to loot and destroy property. Nyanza Regional Police Commander Leonard Katana noted on Tuesday that security was beefed up in the region to handle any chaotic reactions following the inauguration.“So far we have not reported any incidents, but we are alert to any reactions following the swearing-in,” Katana said. Business people reported that their business was affected due to the empty streets. Most voters boycotted the October 26 fresh presidential poll after the call from Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
