An activist has called on the education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi to step down over the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education leakage saga.
Moses Otieno from Centre of Human Rights and Democracy said Kaimenyi should take full responsibility over the leakage that has tainted the credibility of the ongoing exams.
"In any situation, the boss is always accountable for the actions of his or her junior staff, Kaimenyi as the person who oversees all education matters in the country should step aside because he has clearly demonstrated that he cannot handle the docket as required", said Otieno.
Otieno said that it was wrong for Kaimenyi to continue denying that no exam has leaked despite massive evidence.
"Kaimenyi is taking us for a ride by saying that there is no evidence showing any leakage. He should have already stepped down because it is clear that the credibility of this important exams has been casted in doubt, something not healthy for our education sector," said Otieno.
He added that the leakage has brought about unfair competition among students where those who accessed the papers early have an added advantage.
Otieno, who was addressing the press in Kisumu on Saturday said recently the education sector has been rocked with negative things, all which have come under the leadership of Kaimenyi, enough reason for him to quit.
