Kikuyu legislator has revealed that the constituency will see a number of needy children go through their secondary school education through kikuyu education trust fund as they have always done in the past years
Kimani wa Ichung’wa revealed that more than 73 children have benefited from the trust fund with 47 have already completed the secondary school education while the rest are still in school and continue to be hosted by the trust fund.
He said more than 70% of the students hosted by the fund have got the marks to get them in regular base in public universities thus the fund is deemed successful in the constituency.
He said that Sh5.2 million have been used and still more Sh1.8 million yet to be used this year which will cater for the needy students joining form one later next month.
“We have been able to help 73 needy children since we launched the trust fund and we are expecting to spend Sh1.8 million to facilitate this year’s school fees for those all students who benefit from the trust fund and those who are joining form one,” the legislator said.
Kimani was speaking in Kikuyu on Friday when he met Kikuyu Education Trust Fund committee and promised full cooperation and participation in education in the constituency.
He said that education must be enhanced in Kikuyu since the constituency hosts one of the best national school in the country and thus schools around should imitate Alliance high school which is located in the constituency.
He said that the trust fund does not discriminate but aims at helping the needy students whose parents cannot afford to pay school fees for their bright children.
He said all children have a right to education and thus they are making the right mandatory even for those needy children.
