Nasa principals’ meeting that was expected to be held today, Tuesday in Kilifi's Vipingo has been postponed.
Discussions were to be centred on who among them will fly the alliance’s flag and the structure of sharing out the positions.
According to reports, the meeting was put on hold to officially welcome Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, who is set to move to the alliance.
Additionally, two principals; Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi are not in the country, making it almost impossible for the leaders to meet.
One of the principals has confirmed that talks are delicate, and they will ensure they handle it with care to a void a split.
This comes even after reports emerged that Moses Wetangula had met Kalonzo Musyoka at a Samburu hotel, where an MOU was signed.
It is understood one of the final efforts to salvage the situation was the two day retreat in Vipingo.
A source close to the principals says the meeting was to be attended by trusted lieutenants of the principals, whose presence was key.
The meeting was supposed to start on Monday, but was pushed to Tuesday as Raila was still in South Africa, and Mudavadi was in West Africa.
It is understood that Kalonzo has been meeting Wetangula and Mudavadi separately with the aim of winning their support to fly the flag.
Kalonzo met Mudavadi last week in his Wiper offices, but sources say it was a culmination of other meetings in the ‘backrooms’.
He also met Wetangula at Sarova Shaba, having insisted that he will be in the ballot.
