Kenyans will have to do with a little more congestion crossing between Mombasa island and the mainland.
This is because of the delayed arrival of MV Safari following a court injunction filled at the Mombasa High Court mid this year to stop construction of the ferry.
According to Kenya Ferry Services Managing Director Baraka Gowa, MV Safari was expected to arrive in the country by end of this year to help MV Jambo at the Likoni channel.
He however notes that intrigues in the court case have been the main hurdle.
The quest to reduce congestion at the Likoni Channel by buying two new ferries from Turkey, MV Jambo and MV Safari first met resistance June this year after a firm contracted by the Kenya Ferry Services filed a case in court challenging the project.
However, the High Court in Mombasa later allowed delivery of MV Jambo which was commissioned in August.
Arrival of MV Jambo was hailed by residents who welcomed the government’s efforts in decongesting operations at the Likoni Ferry Channel
