The latest being political leaders from Samburu County who have strongly dismissed the proposal by the church leaders.Led by Samburu Woman Representative Maison Leshoomo, the leaders asked the church to pray for the country saying amendment of the constitution is not a suitable thing to do with the current political situation, adding that the country should settle before new offices can be created.“We are all Christians but we say the constitution is not just a valueless piece of paper, it is laws that guide on how all Kenyans should conduct themselves,” said Leshoomo. On the other hand, Samburu North MP Alois Lentoimaga said it is wrong to amend the constitution in order to accommodate people who did not take part in an election.“Raila was given a second chance by the supreme court to prove that he won on August 8 general election as he had claimed earlier but he was afraid of the repeat elections,” said Mr. Lentoimaga.Mr. Lentoimaga further questioned why National Super Alliance(NASA) leader Raila Odinga claims the October 26 election was rigged yet he withdrew from the race. The leaders were speaking at Maralal town where they called upon churches and all Christians to pray for peace in the country and keep off from making a proposal they termed not helpful. On Tuesday last week, the National Council of Churches of Kenya called for the creation of positions of Prime Minister and two Deputy Prime Ministers, a move the council says, will unite the country and end the current political stalemate.
