Leaders from the former Nyanza Province have accused IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati for allegedly profiling the Luo community following his decision to order repeat poll on Saturday.

With IEBC officials keeping polling centers due to perceived insecurity, Chabukati invoked regulation 55 of the commission to demand a fresh poll in Siaya, Kisumu, Migori and Homabay.

"It is wrong to profile the Luo community yet it is their right to keep off polls. I do not understand why he is forcing people to vote," said Anyang Nyong'o.

Most parts of the country experienced voter apathy following unprecedented withdrawal of opposition leader Raila Odinga, who had demanded reforms in the electoral commission.

And the opposition team led by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed accused Chebukati of instigating massacre in the region by planning to force locals to vote.

"Chebukati profiling Luos yet we have many communities living in Nyanza. In fact, there was no voting across the country and I do not know why he is targeting Nyanza," he noted.

Similar calls have been made by the Church which has warned against forcing locals to take part in the poll.

Although president Uhuru Kenyatta seems to be heading to a landslide victory, his victory could be challenged on the grounds of legitimacy following massive boycott.
