Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has urged the National Government to put more funds for the construction of Suneka Airstrip.
Speaking on Monday in his office when he hosted Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru, Ongwae noted the construction of the airstrip was taking long due to insufficient funds.
"I ask president Uhuru to intervene in the Suneka airstrip construction because the contractor is crawling in finalising the work due to insufficient funds. I am urging him to put more funds to the airstrip so that it can be finalised faster to start off businesses," appealed Ongwae.
Ongwae further asked the National Government to repair and tamarc roads that are in its docket, indicating that the public had demonstrated accusing the county government of sidelining those roads.
"I ask the national government to work on the roads that are in its docket. The public is fighting us that we are partial in roads construction. They do not understand that some roads are for the national government," added Ongwae.
"We are only responsible for interior roads. Therefore, its the national government that is responsible for towns and other main roads," he reiterated.
